Coaching for new or trainee Life Coaches
Working with people on a deeper level involves a natural ability to engage with, empathise and relate to a variety of different types of characters in a whole host of situations and circumstances, but this in itself is not enough. The skill of being a successful and effective Coach is in harnessing your life experience, you natural abilities, your intuitive understanding, your practical experience of life's challenges, development and learning and marrying it with your training. We must have fully experienced the side of the client, the student, to become the Coach, the Teacher.
The only way to become an effective, confident and competent Coach is to live what you teach. To be truly committed and active in your own development and evolution, this is the only starting place to become a Coach.
The greatest gift a Coach gives her clients is objectivity and to be truly objective, we as the Coach, must have a certain amount of experience and desire in honestly and thoroughly looking at ourselves. Self-examination is constant in this work. We as the Coach, must have reached a certain level of personal resolution and of course awareness, only then can we genuinely be objective and help our clients to make real and lasting change in their lives.
The old adage, 'You can only bring people to the level you've reached', hits the nail on the head and so a Coach must be congruent with her teachings, beliefs, intentions and credentials and of course be constantly developing, something that cannot be taught by any Coaching diploma.
In essence, there are many Coaching qualifications on the market, there are many routes to becoming a Life Coach, but to truly embody what a Life Coach must be in order to fulfil her objectives cannot be taught exactly, experience of life and development is the teacher. Many Coaching courses and diplomas are fantastic and are certainly very helpful, the point I want to emphasise is that these are not adequate in and of themselves.
Working with people on a deeper level is an honour that must be respected and valued and so the quality and depth of the journey you've taken actually creates the quality of the destination, not only for you, but for your clients.
